Our Name
Inspired by a version of an old folk tale that tells of a traveler arriving in a village hungry and tired. The traveler went door-to-door asking the villagers if they had any food to share, but the villagers all said they had nothing. The traveler said what a shame it was, and offered to make the villagers Stone Soup. The traveler pulled out a cauldron, filled it with water, placed it on a fire, and dropped a large stone into it. He stirred the Stone Soup, saying that it wouldn’t be long before there would be a delicious soup for all to enjoy, remarking that the only thing that would make it better was a little bit of salt. One of the villagers said they had some salt, and added it to the soup. The traveler resumed stirring the soup, repeating that it wouldn’t be long before there would be a delicious soup for all to enjoy, now remarking that the only thing that would make it better was a little bit of cabbage. Another of the villagers said they had a cabbage, and added it to the soup. This went on, and soon the villagers had added carrots, beans, celery, potatoes and all manner of ingredients, until they had a rich, nutritious, and flavorful soup to share.
